In January 2024, I went on a study tour to Indonesia with fellow Western Sydney University students and tutors to make two documentaries.

Life in Java is my personal project showcasing my experience.

An opportunity of a lifetime.

The purpose of this study tour was to share the stories of passionate artistic organisations on a worldwide scale. In particular, we spent several weeks with the Kinnara Kinnari, a dance group based in Borobudur, Central Java. The Kinnara Kinnari, led by Pak Eko Sunyoto, welcomed us into their home and treated us like family as we learned about new ways of life. Their commitment to their art was incredible, from intricate choreographed dance pieces to magnificent hand-crafted costumes, it was truly a privilege to be able to document the lives of these fantastic artists. We made two documentaries while we were there, I was the Director of Photography for one, and a Camera Operator/Editor for the other. These films will be available to watch sometime in 2025, the link will be available here on this site!

I worked with Billy Moar for four weeks in Indonesia on a documentary project. Billy captured all of the drone footage for our project and was a first camera operator. Billy is an excellent photographer and videographer. He is always ready to go, professional and friendly – a fantastic team player. This has led me to recommend Billy for jobs since this time – I know he is reliable and will always produce high quality work on time.

Credit to Cemal Eroglu for the amazing soundtrack.

On this adventure, I met the most inspiring people and I hope to pass on their courage and wisdom through my stories. I have so much to be grateful for and I will never forget this experience.
